SUMMARY:Coding Café ☕🍕 - AI-Assisted Code and Model Development
DESCRIPTION:Stay up to date about upcoming sessions by subscribing to the
Coding Café newsletter.\n\nJoin Coding Café\, an informal meetup where
researchers get together and talk research software! Everyone is welcome\,
no matter if you have never written a line of code in your life or if you
have published a dozen packages on CRAN or PyPI.\n\nEvery other month\, we
get together as a community and exchange our experiences\, challenges\, and
best practices in coding. You will learn all you need to get started in a
short presentation. After that\, you get to practice what you've learned
hands-on!\n\nOr stray off and find some peers to take a look at your own
code. It's all FAIR game! So\, feel free to bring your own programming
questions\, conundrums\, and pesky bugs to discuss and (hopefully) resolve
with the help of the community!\n\nInvited speaker: Bruno Nicenboim
(TSHD)\nTopic: AI-Assisted Code and Model Development\n\nIn this Coding
Cafe\, Bruno Nicenboim (TSHD) will present an interactive\, end-to-end
workflow for using agentic coding in your day-to-day research. You will
learn how to use AI to develop and implement computational models\, but you
do not have to simply trust what the AI produces. \n\nBruno will also show
you how to use an AI agent to test the mathematical and computational
formulations it generates\, helping you spot mistakes.\n\nThis way\, you
can remain in the driver’s seat both now and later in your project. And
there is a hidden bonus: All of these tricks are not only useful for
research and data analysis but are also the very tools the pros use to
develop highly reliable code. That means everything we discuss will also
help you with writing better and sharable code that others can use as
well!\n\nTo get the most out of the session and to be able to follow
along\, we recommend installing the following pieces of
software:\n\n\n	\n	Download R-4.6.0. Bruno will use R for his
demonstration\, but the content is also applicable to Python and other
 languages!\n	\n	\n	Visual Studio Code\n	\n	\n	Codex IDE extension\, Claude
Code in VS Code or and IDE AI Coding plugin of your choice\n	\n\n\n The
easiest way to use Codex is with your TiU ChatGPT subscription. You can
also use your personal subscriptions or any other model via the API or
locally\, but we cannot offer support for those.\n\nThis is also a gentle
reminder to follow TiU’s current guidelines on AI in research.

databases\, apply Boolean logic and track citations to uncover
relationships between literature) \n	\n\n\n\n	\n	Tools and methods for
managing references\, organizing your findings\, and setting up alerts to

SUMMARY:New date: Diamond Open Access interactive session
DESCRIPTION:Diamond open access is often presented as a fairer alternative
to commercial publishing\, with no fees for readers and with no fees for
authors. But it also depends on specific forms of labor\, infrastructure\,
and institutional support that are not always visible.\n\nThis session
invites early career researchers to take a closer look at diamond OA as
part of a changing publication landscape in the Netherlands. Rather than
treating it as a ready-made solution\, we approach it as something that
raises questions about ownership\, control\, and the organization of
academic work.\n\nWhat we’ll do\n\n\n	Brief recap of the open access
landscape\n	Explore diamond open access: what it is\, why it is gaining
attention\, and what is often overlooked\n	Share experiences from
researchers and initiatives\n	Discuss practical and structural
 questions:\n	\n copyright and licensing\n ownership\, governance\, and
 scholar-led publishing\n sustainability\, funding\, and
labor\n	\n	\n\n\nThis event is organized by the University Library in
collaboration with the Open Science Community Tilburg.\n\nLocation: Room L

SUMMARY:Coding Café ☕🍕 - Topic to be determined
So\, feel free to bring your own programming
questions\, conundrums\, and pesky bugs to discuss and (hopefully) resolve
with the help of the community!\n\nInvited speaker: tbd\nTopic: tbd\n\nMore
 info coming soon!
